Brazilian Butt Lifts
Enhance Your Curves with Precision and Care
At Salinas Valley Plastic Surgery, we understand the importance of confidence in your appearance. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is one of our most sought-after procedures, designed to enhance the shape and fullness of your buttocks using your body’s natural fat. Fat is usually obtained from your abdomen, back, flanks (love-handles) and lateral chest.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian Butt Lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. This procedure involves liposuction to remove fat from areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or back. The harvested fat is then purified and strategically injected into the buttocks to create a fuller, more contoured look.
Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Transfer to the Buttocks?
BBL is ideal for individuals who:
- Desire fuller, more shapely buttocks.
- Have sufficient fat stores in other areas of the body for liposuction.
- Are in good overall health with a stable weight.
- Have realistic expectations about the outcome.
- Do not have a history of significant weight fluctuations.
Recovery and Postoperative Care After a BBL
Proper postoperative care is crucial for achieving the best results from your BBL. Here’s what you can expect after your procedure:
- Initial Recovery: You’ll need to try and avoid sitting on a hard surface or lying directly on your buttocks anywhere other than a very soft bed for at least 2 weeks. Most patients sleep on their stomach or their sides. This helps ensure that the newly transferred fat cells establish a healthy blood supply.
- Compression Garment: Wearing a compression garment is essential to reduce swelling and help your body adjust to its new contours. You’ll need to wear this garment for about 6-8 weeks. Lymphatic massages, while not harmful, can be expensive and may not help very much.
- Fat Absorption:Â Your body will reabsorb some of the fat injected into your buttocks. However, most of it will remain, giving your buttocks a firmer look and improved volume.
- Activity Restrictions: Light walking is encouraged soon after surgery to promote circulation, but you should avoid strenuous activities, including heavy lifting or intense workouts, for at least 6 weeks. If a BBL is combined with a tummy tuck, blood thinners may be necessary after surgery for 10-14 days to help avoid blood clots.
- Follow-Up Appointments: We’ll schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor your progress and address any concerns. These appointments are crucial to ensure that your recovery is on track and that you’re satisfied with your results.
